We are humbled that our excellence has been recognized by the new benchmark for academic quality in India by U.G.C. which has conferred the status of ‘A College with Potential for Excellence’ on our institution out of 180 colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh. We achieved another landmark to be a Star College in Life Sciences and Biotechnology in Education and Training under Star College scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology (D.B.T.), for strengthening eight departments of the college including Bioinformatics, Zoology, Botany, Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Microbiology. Thirteen science departments of the college, including the departments of Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Bioinformatics, Psychology, Information Technology, Industrial Technology, Mathematics, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Statistics have also been awarded a grant of Rs. 78 lakhs under the Basic Scientific Scheme of the UGC.

With immaculate academic ambience, state-of–the-art infrastructure, futuristic facilities, pronounced emphasis on quality and dynamic teaching-learning process, the college has made rapid strides towards achieving the goal of excellence. The college is the most sought after institution imparting wide array of courses in vocational, professional, commercial and technical streams under the faculties of Commerce, Science, Information Technology and Humanities.

When the academic revolution was unfolding in the world, we were the first one to feel the tremors and we introduced vocational courses like Biotechnology, Computer Applications, Advertising, Sales Promotion and Sales Management, Functional English, Industrial Chemistry, Information Technology, Microbiology and Biochemistry, etc.

The college pioneered and operationalised various innovative, interdisciplinary and professional courses in emerging areas. The college introduced three Post Graduate Innovative courses of M.Sc. in Bio-informatics, Masters in Entrepreneurship and Family Business i.e. MEFB and M.Sc. Applied Chemistry (Pharmaceutical). The college has been sanctioned another innovative programme i.e. Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Graphics and Animation from the session 2010-11. Keeping in view the tide of the time, the college is running market oriented professional courses like MBE, M.Com., M.Sc. (I.T.), BBA, BCA, B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biotechnology and B.Sc. (Hons.) in Bio-informatics. Apart from aforementioned courses, there are twenty five ‘Add on’ career oriented programmes which students can opt parallel to their graduation to add a winning edge to their profile.

In the emerging context of global flow and transcontinental exchange of concepts and methodologies, we have entered into MoU with foreign universities like University of Fraser Valley (UFV), Canada and Normandy Business School, France. The students can live global in a local world.

Our distinct teaching methodology imparts holistic education through ultra modern techniques which are characterized by data base resources and diverse services like brain storming sessions, bridge courses, seminars, symposia, case studies, power point presentations, research projects, career fests, educational & industrial excursions and workshops etc. We are equipped with INFLIBNET which provides access to many National /International journals online.
